What is eyelid surgery?

Through precise incision along the eyelid crease, excess fat tissues and saggy skin are removed. The upper eyelid muscles are then stitched to the skin layer to create a well defined double eyelid.

Why eyelid surgery?

General ageing or some disease conditions (severe ptosis) may lead to restricted vision which is caused by loose skin and hooding or dropping of the upper eyelid. Apart from cosmesis purpose, eyelid surgery also improves the functions of the eyelids by addressing these problems, making this procedure necessary for a better quality of life.

Is the result immediately visible?

There will be bruising and swelling in the surgical area immediately after the procedure. Final result will be visible after 2-4 weeks of the operation.

DO I need to cover my eyes with bandage after the surgery?

This is not necessary. Patient’s vision may be minimally affected due to eyelid swelling. So, we recommend patient to seek company home after day procedure.

When can I put on eye make-up again?

We suggest you to limit the use of make-up for at least 2 weeks after the procedure, to minimise the risk of infection and scar rubbing due to make-up removal.

What is eye bag removal?

To rejuvenate and smoothen the lower eyelids for a younger and energetic appearance, minimal incision is done within the lower eyelid to remove fat and excess skin bulge in the under-eye area. There will be no visible external scar after the procedure.

Why eye bag removal?

Many studies have shown that facial features influence the formation of a good first impression. Eye bag removal potentially helps to enhance your appearance and complement your overall look.

What should I expect in the post-operative recovery period?

Swelling and bruising around the eyes are expected during the recovery period. Final result will be visible after 2-4 weeks. Pain is usually minimal and can be tolerated. You can resume your normal activities on the next day after the procedure. For a more pleasant experience, please take 3-5 days off work after the procedure.

When can the stitches be removed?

They are normally removed on day 5 after the procedure, with a series of follow-up care on day 5, one month and 3 months of the recovery period.

How do I know if I have a pair of significant eye bags?

Gently press on the eyeball with your eyes closed. Potential eye bags will be emphasised and the areas can now be noticed.

Is the scar visible on the outside?

If there is no loose skin or skin excess, the removal of excess fat can be done with a small wound left on the inner surface of the eyelid. There is no external skin wound. Even if a skin removal is required, the scar is placed as close to the lower eyelashes as possible to minimise the impact on your appearance.

Can I use a filler to fill the “tear trough” area?

Filler cannot be used to replace the eye bag surgery. It is used to fill the depression in the “tear trough” area but it cannot reduce the size of eye bags. Although this can achieve a camouflage effect as the contour is averaged-out, for significant eye bags, this may give a worsened appearance especially on oblique view (think about looking 45 degrees from your side).
